A printer is a device that takes images or text and converts them to paper. The most common types of printer are inkjet and laser printers.

A router is used to send data between one network to another. They usually come with a firewall. Having a router allows remote access to a private network and adds security to that network. If multiple computers are sharing the same connection, a user could place their home computers behind a router that uses Network address translation which enables multiple computers access to the Internet over a single high-speed connection.

A scanner is a device that captures images from real sources such as photographs, posters and magazine pages for computer editing and display. Scanners use a CCD (change-coupled devive) array to sense the brightness levels of an image or Text to determine the number of pixels to used.
