 Ethernet
Commonly known as Cat 5e, is an unshielded twisted pair cable, designed for high speed connectivity. Category 5e is an advancement of category 5 cable. Cat 5e cable is often used for Ethernet networks. Data can be sent at up to 155 Megabit per second but only over fairly short distances. Horizontal cables are limited to a maximum of 90m (295ft) in length.

Encryption is the coding or scrambling of information so that it can only be decoded and read by someone who has the correct decoding key. Encryption is used in secure Web sites where bank/creadit card details are entered . If a third party were to intercept the information you sent via an encrypted connection, they would not be able to read it.

Ethernet is the most common type of connection computers use in a LAN (local area network). An Ethernet port looks much like a regular phone jack, but it is slightly thicker. The most common forms of Ethernet are 10BaseT and 100BaseT which simply means the file transfer speed the network can reach 10mbps and 100mbps.
